Once upon a time, there were a handful of songwriters who wrote the songs for all the pop stars in the country. The Beatles changed the game writing your own songs became the thing to do. The downside to this music revolution is that we now also have to listen to an awful lot of bad lyrics.
One of my favorite songs is Pick Yourself Up, an old tune by Jerome Kern, with lyrics by Dorothy Fields. I particularly like Frank Sinatras version featuring the swinging brass of the Neal Hefti Orchestra.
